Thriller Starring Paz Vega, Amy Smart, Anne Heche, Trace Adkins
The day starts as usual for residents in the small Heartland town of Minninnewah. It’s springtime and big storms are just part of life. Nothing to get worked up about…until they are. Inhabitants will have just 13 minutes to get to shelter before the largest tornado on record ravages the town, leaving the inhabitants searching for their loved ones and fighting for their lives. In the wake of total devastation, four families must overcome their differences and find strength in themselves and each other to survive.
I thought it was a good movie and enjoyed watching it. The acting was good as you would expect with several accomplished actors appearing in the film. The film also included some good special effects.
If I had any criticism of the movie it would have to be the overloaded use of social issues. They addressed Racism, homophobia, abortion, Male chauvinism, and undocumented workers.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved that they wanted to be so inclusive of social issues but having so many issues in 1 hour and 48 minutes along with a devastating tornado and all that goes along with that, just didn’t allow enough time to address any one social issue to the extent it needed to be addressed.
That being said, I did find the movie entertaining and appreciate the overall message of the film that through all the tragedy and chaos, the community comes together and comes out stronger than before.
