Power Play Clash – TWiT Book Review

Spread the love

Alex,
As captain of an NHL team, I can’t afford distractions. Not when the season is starting. Not when everyone is counting on me. And definitely not when the distraction is Julian Mercer—our owner’s spoiled, sharp-tongued son, who walks into the rink knowing nothing about hockey and somehow gets under my skin anyway. He’s reckless, infuriating, too pretty for his own good… and impossible to stay away from. He’s supposed to be off-limits. Instead, he’s in my bed. What starts as tension turns into late nights, stolen touches, and something I can’t shut off. But I’m not out, and if his father finds out, I could lose everything I’ve worked for. Including him.

Julian,
I took this job to prove I’m more than Grant Mercer’s son. I didn’t come here to embarrass myself in front of the team captain, or end up craving every heated glance, every secret touch, every stolen night with him. He’s controlled, guarded, and impossible to read. Until we’re alone. Because behind closed doors, he gives me everything, except a future. And the longer we stay in the shadows, the more I realize… If Alex makes me choose between walking away and fighting for him, I won’t go down without a clash.

It’s intriguing to view this second installment of the Desert Elite Hockey Series as a new series, especially since it features a host of characters from its predecessor, the Desert Ice Hockey Series. This connection creates a seamless transition, more of an extension than a separate narrative. Alex and Julian stand out, each navigating complex lives amid chaotic emotions and past relationships. Their journey is relatable, making it enjoyable for those who followed the previous series.

At the heart of “Power Play Clash” is the pursuit of love amid lingering ties to past relationships. As Alex and Julian face their exes, who are determined to win them back, the tension escalates. The story prompts reflection on the inevitable struggle between moving forward and letting go of the past. The emotional stakes are high, especially as they fight not only for their relationship but also against the pressure to keep it secret; Alex’s potential trade looms overhead.

This book captures what fans love about gay hockey romances—an enticing blend of action, drama, and romance. Readers can expect plenty of heated encounters, intricate plot twists, and heartfelt moments. The chemistry between Alex and Julian is palpable, and their determination to find happiness together shines through. Ultimately, the narrative delivers a satisfying resolution, leaving you with a fulfilling emotional experience and a happy ending that brings everything together beautifully.

 Christie Gordon PortraitAbout The Author

Christie Gordon started writing gay and MM romance after accidentally finding Yaoi fanfiction and falling in love with it. I’ve always had stories in my head and enjoyed writing, so I decided to try my hand at the genre and took up fiction writing classes at a local community college.
I published my first MM romance book with eXtasy back in 2009. I always follow my muses wherever they take me, writing a mixture of paranormal, historical, and contemporary romances. I enjoy writing about men discovering themselves, overcoming obstacles, and finding love along the way, with a happy ending.

I work in the high-tech industry and hold a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration. I currently live in the Phoenix, Arizona, metro area, but I have also lived in the Bay Area of California and grew up in Minnesota. When I’m not writing, I watch boys’ love dramas or create digital artwork. I’m also a mother of two young adult sons, whose antics keep me on my toes. My one-eyed rescue pug is always by my side, snoring the day away.
