Romney’s Tax Returns Reveal Donations to Anti-LGBT Groups

The tax returns for Mitt Romney's charitable foundation reveal that the GOP presidential hopeful has given at least $35,000 in recent years to groups actively working to halt the spread of LGBT equality and, in some cases, intentionally demonize LGBT people. The revelation comes two weeks after Romney said in New Hampshire that he opposed discrimination against LGBT Americans.

Washington United for Marriage Hails Legislative Hearings on Marriage Equality

Washington United for Marriage, a broad statewide coalition of organizations, congregations, unions and business associations that will work to obtain civil marriage for lesbian and gay couples in Washington State in 2012, today hailed the Washington State Senate and House for holding hearings on SB 6239 and HB 2516.  The proceedings are yet another sign that the momentum for marriage equality in the Evergreen State continues to build.

National Organization for Marriage Sponsoring Tonight’s GOP Presidential Debate

The National Organization for Marriage (NOM), a leading anti-gay group that works to spread misinformation about LGBT Americans and halt the growing momentum surrounding marriage equality, is sponsoring tonight’s GOP presidential debate as part of this year’s Southern Republican Leadership Conference (SRLC). The Southern Poverty Law Center calls NOM “one of the most visible and active anti-gay marriage groups,” and says the organization propagates “known falsehoods” about LGBT people.

HRC to Weekly Standard: Don’t Fundraise for Bigots

The Human Rights Campaign – the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization – is condemning the Weekly Standard for sending an email on behalf of one of their sponsors, the anti-gay organization “Public Advocate of the United States,” that called LGBT Americans “sexual deviants” and asked recipients to contribute financially to efforts aimed at defaming the Student Non-Discrimination Act (SNDA).
