In Wake Of Orlando Shooting, Moms Demand Action Volunteers Stand with Houston LGBTQ Community; Available For Interviews About the Need to Keep Guns Out of Dangerous Hands
Houston, Texas— Members of the Texas chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a part of Everytown for Gun Safety, will be standing in solidarity with the LGBTQ community in Houston at the Houston Pride Fest. Following the largest mass shooting in modern American history, which killed 49 people and injured more than 50 others at a gay nightclub in Orlando, the LGBTQ community and gun violence prevention advocates are working together to #DisarmHate.
More than 50 Moms Demand Action volunteers will be tabling, marching in the parade and talking to attendees about how much more we can do to keep guns out of dangerous hands, including making sure that people convicted of hate crimes and people on the terror watch list cannot buy guns. Following the Senate’s failure to pass common-sense legislation, Moms Demand Action volunteers across the country are attending more than 20 pride events to stand with the LGBTQ community and grow even louder about the need to close the loopholes that make guns readily accessible to dangerous and hateful people.
