This year’s Opening Ceremonies will be emceed by Ryan Korsgard of KPRC Channel 2 and will include a host of special guests such as Mayor Annise Parker and US Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee and entertainment by Bayou City Chorale, Eliot Perez and Ezra Charles Band. Theresa from 94.5 FM The Buzz will lead the Walk as this year’s Grand Marshal.
There is no cure for HIV/AIDS. AIDS Walk Houston is a community event that provides hope for those impacted by or living with HIV/AIDS by creating awareness and works to eliminate the stigma associated with the disease. In Houston, there is one new HIV infection every eight hours and 36% of new infections occur in young people, ages 13-24. Women, young people and populations of color carry the unwanted burden of being at elevated risk of infection.
AIDS Walk Houston is produced by AIDS Foundation Houston and more information is available at www.AIDSWalkHouston.org.
