GayCities Announces Winners in Members' Voting in "The World According to Gays"

San Francisco, CA (January 11, 2011) – GayCities (www.gaycities.com), the world's largest LGBT community-driven city guide, today announced the winners of its annual "Best of GayCities." GayCities members voted on their favorite places around the corner and across the globe.

One GayCities member, Frank Forbes, won a trip for two to Berlin, courtesy of airberlin.

Cities, businesses and organizations were nominated in 40 categories, ranging from "Best Shop to Blow Your Paycheck" to "Best Beach to Lose Your Shorts." GayCities commissioned San Francisco artist Wendy MacNaughton to illustrate "The World According to Gays" as a satirical world map, and now GayCities members have filled it in their favorite places.

Winners include:

Puerto Vallarta's Blue Chairs resort won "Best Hotel to Cruise & Booze"

New York's Broadway Bares was voted "Social Charity Event of the Year"

San Francisco was tapped "Best Food City" and Paris "Best Hotel Stay City"

W Hotels took home the prize for "Hotel Brand We Love"

Miami's 12th Street Beach was named "Best Beach to See and Be Seen"

Barney's New York took top honors for "Best Shop to Blow Your Paycheck"

San Francisco's Magnet was named "Best Community Health" organization

Columbus, Ohio, was recognized with a special award a tremendous write-in campaign by local members

New York's Splash Bar was named "Best Club to Dance My Ass Off"

Los Angeles' The Abbey captured the category "Best Bar to Take Your Mom"
