National Coming Out Day is Monday, October 11 and in today’s LGBT political climate, it is more important than ever that actors and actresses are openly true to who they are. After landing the leading role in “Maple Palm” (2006), Deborah Stewart, one of the LGBT community’s fastest growing stars, decided it was her time to be true to herself and come out of the closet.
“Personally, coming out just relieves a lot of having to look over your shoulder and keep secrets, which takes up a ton of energy,” Deborah states in an interview with Frontiers Web, “Professionally, with my career, I was worried about being pigeonholed or typecast and it has done nothing of the sort.”
Deborah’s extensive talent landed her a role to co-star in TNT’s popular cop drama “Rizzoli & Isles” in the episode “I Kissed a Girl,” in which she was cast to heavily flirt with one of the show’s stars, Angie Harmon.
Deborah is currently in pre-production for a new lesbian vampire flick, “Hungry for You”, a sneak peek into the Vampire project will be available before this upcoming Halloween.
