Groundbreaking Show Premieres June 20, 2010

WASHINGTON – The Human Rights Campaign and Showtime Networks Inc. are teaming up to host premiere parties to celebrate the kickoff season of THE REAL L WORD in communities across the country, throughout June. The premiere event in Los Angeles will feature series creator and executive producer Ilene Chaiken and the full cast of the unscripted series and be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. THE REAL L WORD is a groundbreaking SHOWTIME series about the lives, careers and relationships of a group of women in Los Angeles. The series premieres on Sunday, June 20at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

“THE REAL L WORD brings LGBT lives into millions of homes. This visibility is crucial to opening hearts and minds,” said HRC President Joe Solmonese. “We’re proud to once again work with SHOWTIME to toast the beginning of this series. Not only is this a chance for communities to come together around great entertainment, but it also provides an opportunity to raise awareness of the fight for equality.”

“The show’s goal is to entertain and we are gratified if, at its best, it also challenges viewers to examine people’s differences as well as what makes us alike,” said Chaiken. “In the interest of achieving equality for all Americans, we are honored to partner with HRC to get that message to millions of people.”
