HRC to North Carolina Rep. Larry Brown: Apologize for Your Hateful and Extremist Statements PDF Print E-mail

Yesterday in an interview with the Winston-Salem Journal, North Carolina State Representative Larry Brown said “the government should not spend money to treat adults with HIV or AIDS who ‘caused it by the way they live.” According to the newspaper, he went on to say he thinks the government shouldn't spend money to treat HIV among people "living in perverted lifestyles."

Today New Jersey Governor Chris Christie signed a landmark Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights into law.  The legislation, passed almost unanimously by both houses of the state legislature in November, is the toughest state anti-bullying law in the country.

Today the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization, released “2011 Flashpoints for LGBT Equality,” a media primer on the LGBT issues landscape for the coming year.  The document includes a new analysis of the make-up of the 112th Congress being sworn in today and shows that anti-LGBT lawmakers hold a majority of seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.
