Two anti-LGBT groups, the National Association for Research & Therapy of Homosexuality and Liberty Counsel, filed a second federal challenge to the new law signed Saturday by California Governor Jerry Brown that will protect lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender young people in the state from dangerous and potentially deadly psychological abuse.

Last weekend at the "Values Voter Summit," sponsored and organized by the Family Research Council, GetEQUAL -- a national civil rights organization fighting for full equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Americans -- encountered a violent and extreme reaction from what appeared to be a hired security firm and from conference-goers when activists entered the conference announcing, "Your values are killing us!"

The Human Rights Campaign – the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization – is responding to Mitt Romney’s selection of Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) as his running mate. Ryan’s voting record in Congress – and his public remarks – make it clear that he does not support the dignity of LGBT Americans; a matter on which he is out-of-touch with the majority of Americans – even those within the Republican Party.

Marriage Equality to Be Included in Democratic Party Platform PDF Print E-mail

Today the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, applauded the Democratic Party platform drafting committee for approving language that adds support for marriage equality to the Party’s platform.  The language must now be ratified by the full platform committee and then by the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte this September.

This summer marks 50 years since the Supreme Court ruling that effectively banned official prayers in public schools. Ever since, wave after wave of proposed bills and amendments have sought to undo that ruling – or at least circumvent it. And now, a former minister says prayer as government-sanctioned religious training never had a place in public school classrooms anyway.
