Human Rights Campaign Foundation to Host Life and Estate Planning Seminar for LGBT Community PDF Print E-mail

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, will hold a free life and estate planning seminar on May 25, 2010, in Minneapolis, MN.  The seminar is part of a national effort to help protect LGBT relationships and educate individuals on various estate and financial planning issues including drafting of wills, durable power of attorney for health care and finances, living wills, domestic partnership, and the Pension Protection Act.  Local financial and estate planning professionals will also be available for questions and answers.  To learn more about this event, visit: www.hrc.org/twincities.

45,000 Walkers Raise $5.7 Million at 25th Annual AIDS Walk New York PDF Print E-mail

Yesterday's 25th annual AIDS Walk New York (AWNY) marked a quarter-century of AIDS activism by raising substantial and critical unrestricted funds for GMHC and other important local AIDS service organizations in the tri-state area.  Launched in 1986 in Damrosch Park at Lincoln Center, AWNY was the first event of its kind on the east coast, and has since become the world's largest AIDS fundraising event.  This year, an estimated 45,000 people walked the 10-kilometer route beginning and ending in Central Park.

Singer-songwriter Seth Glier kicks off the summer festival season with performances at some of folk music’s greatest festivals. Glier’s summer 2010 festival schedule starts off with a slot on the mainstage at the Kerrville Folk Festival (June 5th & 6th), Plymouth Folk Festival (July 11th), Falcon Ridge Folk Festival (July 23rd – 25th), and The Grassy Hill Song Circle at the Connecticut Folk Festival (Sept. 10th). Seth also returns to theEdinburgh Fringe Festival supporting Rachael Sage August 15th – 30th in Edinburgh, UK.

NYC & Company, the official marketing, tourism and partnership organization for the City of New York, today joined with Heritage of Pride, Inc., to unveil the 2010 theme of the City's annual gay pride celebration. This year's theme, "Liberty and Justice for All," will spotlight New York City as one of the world's most welcoming and inclusive LGBT destinations. The City will host a full week of activities, beginning with The Rally at Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield on Saturday, June 19, and culminating in the legendary Dance on the Pier at Pier 54 – Hudson River Park on Sunday, June 27.
