GLAAD Congratulates Award Winning LGBT Films & Filmmakers at 2010 Sundance and Slamdance Film Festivals PDF Print E-mail

Since 2006, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), the nation’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) media advocacy and anti-defamation organization, has brought a dedicated space to celebrate and elevate the voices of filmmakers whose storytelling included the visibility and inclusion of the LGBT community to the Sundance Film Festival. This year GLAAD announced an official partnership with the Sundance Institute and unveiled a new multi-day programmatic event, cineGLAAD.

ALLISON MOORER TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM "CROWS" ON FEBRUARY 9th PDF Print E-mail

Allison Moorer is set to release her Ryko debut, Crows, on February 9. Produced by R.S. Field (Buddy Guy, John Mayall) at the House of David Studio in Nashville, TN, the 13-track album is a refined and lyrically honest collection of songs that is a marked stylistic departure from her previous work. Crows is the anticipated follow up to her critically acclaimed 2008 album, Mockingbird, which was a celebration of songs composed by a stunning cast of female songwriters including Nina Simone, Patti Smith, Cat Power, her sister Shelby Lynne, and more. It also follows Moorer’s first Grammy Award Nomination for the song “Days Aren’t Long Enough,” a composition she co-wrote with her husband, Steve Earle, for his Grammy Award Winning 2007 album Washington Square Serenade.

GLAAD Calls Attention to LGBT Inclusive Academy Award® Nominees: A Single Man, Precious PDF Print E-mail

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), the nation's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) media advocacy and anti-defamation organization, today congratulated the creative teams and casts of Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire and A Single Man which received a combined 7 Oscar nominations during today's announcement of nominees for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards. Lee Daniels, honored for his work on Precious, became the first openly gay African American director to receive a nomination.

In addition to the music video, cmt.com is featuring a three minute clip of Laura Bell’s Cooter County characters talking about the world premiere of her music video - sure to make you laugh out loud.

Palm Springs International Film Festival to Screen LGBT G Films PDF Print E-mail

Palm Springs rolls out the red carpet next week, January 5-18, 2010, for the 21st Palm Springs International Film Festival. More than 200 films will be screened during the festival, including 19 gay and lesbian films, six of which will be World and U.S. premieres.

African-American LGBT Organizations Join GLAAD in Protest of Buju Banton’s Grammy Nomination PDF Print E-mail

Gay Men of African Descent (GMAD) and the National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) announced today that they stand with the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) in its petition drive and advocacy work protesting the recent Grammy nomination of reggae singer Buju Banton’s album “Rasta Got Soul.” Banton has a long history of advocating the killing of gay people.
