The Family Equality Council, America’s foremost national advocate for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) families, joined with PFLAG National (Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians And Gays) and the National Black Justice Coalition in applauding Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) for signing on as the first Republican co-sponsor of the Every Child Deserves a Family Act (ECDF).

HRC Condemns AZ Governor Brewer for Signing Discriminatory Adoption Bill into Law PDF Print E-mail

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation’s largest civil rights organization dedicated to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equality, condemned Arizona Governor Jan Brewer and the Republican leadership in the state legislature for passing and signing into law SB 1188, which gives preference to married couples in the adoption process – at the exclusion of same-sex couples and single adults who wish to provide a loving home to children. The bill applies to public and private adoption agencies.

Human Rights Campaign to Host Web Chat for National Adoption Month PDF Print E-mail

In celebration of “National Adoption Month,” the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization, will host a national web chat on a variety of adoption issues.  During the discussion, HRC and several child welfare experts will highlight the unique opportunities and challenges facing the LGBT community with regard to adoption from foster care.  November is National Adoption Month, a month set aside to raise awareness about the adoption of children and youth from foster care.
