For an interesting and innovative night of theater Dallas' Second Thought Theater invites you into a nondescript hotel conference room somewhere in the midwest for a sales training seminar.  Complete with peel and stick name tags, coffee in styrofoam cups, videos and a motivational speaker this evening is like many sales trainings I have attended.  One exception, here you won't be constantly wondering when will this end.

ImageThe Lexus Broadway Series Continues an amazing 2011 Season with the opening this week of the 2010 Tony Award Winner for Best Musical In The Heights.  We are brought into the lives of the residents of a few blocks of the Dominican NYC Neighborhood of Washington Heights over a three day period that includes the 4th of July.

Sherry and Grace live with their mother, and each is suffering from their own dysfunctional affliction.  Neither have seen their mother in months, as she has gained a lot of weight as a result of medication that she has been put on for an illness.  Not wanting to be seen by anyone she has locked herself in her room and will only communicate with her daughters by phone, even though she is only upstairs.

On Tuesday, December 4th, 1956 the stars aligned to place the unknown Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash in the studio of Sun Records, label of Sam Phillips, the man who is responsible for Rock & Roll Music.  Phillips had discovered each of these men, and pulled from them the talent within, talent that only he could pull from them.

Rent is Still Cutting Edge Brilliant Theater! PDF Print E-mail

In the days of turn any movie that did well at the box office into a Broadway Musical you never know what you are getting into when you walk into a theater.  Think the tragedy that was Xanadu-The Musical it is nice to sit in a theater and enjoy a night of amazing, emotional, enthralling theater.

Spamalot is Irreverent, Over The Top & Hysterical! PDF Print E-mail

Monty Python's Spamalot opened to a packed house this week as part of the Broadway at the Bass Series and it didn't take long to see why the 2005 Tony winner for Best Musical was such a draw.  The show starts funny and the laughs never cease.  It is quickly obvious this is the musical the Xanadu could have been, but wasn't.

ImageEdna Farber's aptly titled Giant is big in all its' incarnations.  From the book to the movie and now the musical the tale of a Texas family's dynasty spans some thirty years and while the book and movie are often described as sprawling, and epic, the musical is only epic in its' length.

Over One Thousand people gathered together Tuesday Night at Dallas Breathtaking New Winspear Opera House to take a look back at the thirty years since our community and our world was changed by the disease now known as AIDS.  The best and the brightest of Dallas' Arts Community gently guided us down the road this community has traveled over the past thirty years since the onset of the Pandemic.
