Image Don’t get me wrong, Dallas Theater Center has another amazing show on its hands.  Always looking to push the envelope and be creative in new ways DTC does not disappoint here.

Kinky Boots are boots that some would consider extreme and offer a quite dramatic and very sexy appearance.  The term originated in the early sixties in England when high boots of this type were associated with the underground S&M world and were often worn by a dominatrix.

The Book of Mormon Irreverent, Incredible Fun! PDF Print E-mail

The Book of Mormon returns to ATT Performing Arts Center’s Winspear Opera House this Week and the big question is can this show really be worth all the hype.  The answer is YES!  The winner of 9 Tony’s, 5 Drama Desk Awards and a Grammy is currently running on Broadway and with some 1,700 performances so far it has enjoyed a longer shelf life than Evita, Dreamgirls and Funny Girl.

As Jaston (Jay-ston) Williams takes the stage as Truman Capote I have two obstacles to overcome.  One is Vera Carp. I must separate this actor who is so identified as the creator and star of the Tuna series from his beloved character.  Two, Williams does not imitate Capote’s voice or lisp which so identified the author.

Beauty & The Beast-Disney’s Original Broadway Musical Still Great Fun PDF Print E-mail

The drama at opening night of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast began some fifteen minutes before curtain when ushers began coming through the theater instructing us that the touring company wanted us to put our phones away.  I complied.  As more people entered the theater more phones, father wants to snap a pic of their little one in front of the pre-show curtain, couples taking and posting selfies.

Blue Man Group Is The Perfect Show For All PDF Print E-mail

Blue Man Group is a feast for the mind and senses.  The impossible to describe show is a nonstop ride that I guarantee will leave every audience member exiting the theater in a euphoric state.

In Once the Music is the Star of the Show PDF Print E-mail

Based on the 2005 film of the same name Broadway’s interpretation of Once took the state of the Winspear Opera house this week for a Christmas Run.  The music of Once has won a Grammy, Tony, Olivier and Academy Award and here the music is the real star of the show, aided very nicely by the rich voices of Stuart Ward as Guy and Dani De Waal as Girl.

DTC Does It Again. Les Miserable the Show of the Year! PDF Print E-mail

When I heard DTC was doing Les Mis my level of enthusiasm was not great.  Cameron Mackintosh’s 25th Anniversary production has been through twice in the past couple of years and what could you add to improve on that mammoth production.
