ONE National Gay & Lesbian Archives announced a groundbreaking partnership with the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center’s Project SPIN to develop LGBT-specific lesson plans to be integrated into Los Angeles County high school history curriculum.

With today’s news that Benjamin Jealous will be stepping down from his position as NAACP president later this year, the Human Rights Campaign reflected on the legacy of a man who not merely led his organization to embrace LGBT equality, but who transformed the national conversation around civil rights for all Americans.

A Majority of U.S. Senators Back Marriage Equality PDF Print E-mail

Today two more United States Senators publicly endorsed marriage rights for same-sex couples, following a groundswell of support in recent weeks.  With announcements from Joe Donnelly (D-IN) and Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND ) today, the total number of U.S. Senators backing marriage equality has reached 53, including 49 Democrats, 2 Independents and 2 Republicans.

Hyatt penalizes LGBTQ organization for backing boycott PDF Print E-mail

After learning about the worker-called global boycott of Hyatt Hotels, Funders for LGBTQ Issues, a national network of foundations and corporate funders that support LGBT communities, decided to move its annual retreat from a New Mexico Hyatt to another location. In response to the move, Hyatt demanded a $40,600 cancellation fee – a substantial percentage of the LGBT nonprofit’s operating budget and more than what Hyatt would have charged if the retreat had actually been held there.
