I was thrilled when I got a call inviting me to attend a six hour program developed by Cyndi Lauper designed to show LGBTQIA youth about the many diverse opportunities available in the theater.  Opportunities that extend far beyond on the stage itself.

The 2014 Gay Games Opening Ceremony now has even more sparkle with today’s announcement that stars Lance Bass, Broadway actress Andrea McArdle and the Pointer Sisters will join the spectacular event taking place Aug. 9 at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.

Galveston Historical Foundation will mark the 150th anniversary of the Civil War Battle of Galveston on January 11-13, 2013. The Battle of Galveston, which took place during the early morning hours of January 1, 1863, is widely acknowledged as the most important military event in Galveston’s history. Commemorative events will be held for all ages focusing on Galveston’s part in the 1863 battle.

More than 1,000 Philadelphia Phillies fans have signed an online petition on Change.org asking the Phillies to make an “It Gets Better” video and take a public stand against anti-gay bullying and homophobia in sports. The petition, with more than 1,500 signatures currently, was started by Philadelphia-born Jerome Hunt, who is a lifelong Phillies fan as well as a former bullying victim.
