I first saw Judy Tenuta on my Twenty-First birthday.  A group of friends took me to a comedy club in Houston to see The LOVE GODDESS.  I had a fabulous evening laughing so hard I was literally in pain.  I remember her spotting two queens early on in her set and speculating that they might be florists.

Born and raised on the North Shore of Chicago Kate Loprest was one of those kids that were born acting. “I didn’t really live in the real world until I was about thirteen and I realized it wasn’t cool to play dress up and pretend anymore.  Obviously, that didn’t stop me, because I am still doing it!”

When you hear the name Jason Stuart it might ring a bell, it might not, but you know him. You even like him. You've seen him on TV on George Lopez, My Wife and Kids, Will and Grace, and House. You've seen him in movies such as Kindergarten Cop, Vegas Vacation, and Gia. Much like Paul Giamatti ("Sideways"), Jason Stuart is a name you don't know, but you know him when you see him, and you have enjoyed his work in the past. Jason says he is living life "In the middle". He's not nobody, but he's not a household name.

I have just signed for a Fed Ex package that I know contains the CD release Schuur Fire from the "First Lady of Jazz" Diane Schuur. In her twenty-five year career, this two time GRAMMY Award-winner has collaborated with the likes of Doc Severinsen, Barry Manilow, and B. B. King. I race to get to my computer for a listen. I sit through the first few tracks and admit that I was not prepared for what I was hearing.

Making sense of things isn’t always easy. Singer-songwriter Allison Moorer knows this, for sifting through life’s various complexities can make for a good song and an even better story.  On “Sorrow (Don’t Come Around),” one of the starkly candid songs on Moorer’s new album, Crows, she hints at a hidden optimism that sometimes is ignored or forgotten: “I gotta turn you away so I can keep this hope alive/You’re tapping on the window but I won’t let you inside/Maybe you’ll give up and find somebody else tonight/I draw the curtains, say a prayer and turn out the light.”

I have been a great fan of Alison Moyet for more years than I would care to admit. I have dreamed of seeing her live as long as I can remember. I have seen her perform on You Tube, but it has always been a dream the day I would actually be there in the hall experiencing Alison Moyet. If you are not familiar with Alison, she together with Vince Clarke were Yazoo. They together created electonica. They went their separate ways before their second album was even released. Both efforts are classics unequalled to this day. Moyet went on to great solo success, to date she has sold more than twenty million albums. Her talent is more diverse than any other artist I can name. She is as at home singing a fast paced dance track as she is singing a classic from George and Ira Gershwin. I was delighted to see that she was coming to America to tour for the first time in fifteen years. I caught up with Alison at her home just outside London . . .

I first discovered Dame Edna Everage the international housewife, therapist, gigastar, guru and celebrity confidant back in 90's when she had a brief stint as a talk show host on a monthly show on NBC.  I knew then that I was in the presence of greatness.  Back then the Dame was only a megastar, but as she will tell you today she is a gigastar.  How things have changed.  She has been called the funniest person alive by Rolling Stone Magazine and they are right.  I thought I was in for a great time with the most famous person in the world, (she will tell you she is), little did I know she knew as much about me as I knew about her.  I felt  like I was on her hilarious British show Neighborhood Watch-the game show that's also a Dame show (Available on DVD).  For me this time with the Dame just reconfirmed she is the funniest person on the planet.   I caught up with the Dame in her suite in New York . . .

“Think I invited you over here to discuss the future of independent film?” asks John Waters in the liner notes. “Hell no, I’m lookin’ for a little action!” Handpicked by the legendary filmmaker himself, the songs on this subversive follow-up to A John Waters Christmas are sure to seduce, including Elton Motello’s racy “Jet Boy Jet Girl,” a homicidal track by actress Mink Stole and Patience and Prudence’s “Tonight You Belong to Me,” the first record Waters ever shoplifted. I caught up with John just before he was to jet off to the Berlin Film Festival where there will be a screening of his performance film This Filthy World. We talked about the new CD, putting out on the first date and more….
