Myanmar Cyclone Deaths at 22,000 and Counting
Government officials say the death toll in Myanmar has reached 22,000 and climbing, with some 41,000 people missing in what's become the biggest natural disaster to hit Asia since the 2005 tsunami took 181,000 lives.

Myranmar Cyclone Death Toll Could Rise to 10,000
The death toll from the massive cyclone that wreaked havoc and destruction in Myanmar over the weekend is expected to climb as high as 10,000, making the human loss the highest of any natural disaster in Asia since 2004's devastating tsunami. But Myanmar's strict ruling Junta opt to allow for assistance from the International community.

Russian Gays to Stage ‘Day of Silence’ in St. Petersburg Next Month
Gay men and women in St. Petersburg will be marking the first-ever Russian Day of Silence on Saturday May 3 with a rally on Malaya Konyushennaya Street. Participants at the rally, which is sub-titled 'Sometimes to be heard you have to be silent' will have their mouths taped as they hand-out flyers and other promotional material to passers-by without comment, a spokesperson for the organizers said.

Moscow Gay Human Rights Marches Ban Appealed to Court
Last Friday, first deputy head of Moscow government security unit Vasily Oleynik, acting on behalf of Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov, banned all the events on security reasons.  Organizers of Moscow Gay Pride lodged an appeal with the Tverskoi district court of Moscow this past weekend over the bans.

Russian Gay Activists Again Demand Gay Blood Donation Ban Repeal
Russian gay activists have once again demanded the repeal of the ban on blood donations by homosexual people. The request was made in a letter sent to the Ministry of health and social development. Nikolai Alekseev and Nikolai Baev, activists of Russian LGBT Human Rights Project GayRussia.Ru and organizers of Moscow Gay Pride, made references to the earlier replies to their requests made in 2006 and 2007 which they received from the Ministry.

Rainbow Flag Paraded in Minsk for First Time - Gays join march for Chernobyl victims
When Sergey Androsenko, the 19-year-old leader of the Gay Youth Association in Belarus, paraded the gay 'Rainbow Flag' through the streets of Minsk this past weekend, a little piece of LGBT history was made.  It was the very first time that the flag had been seen at a political event in Belarus.

Vote for Ken Livingstone, European Gay Group Urges EU Nationals in London
A European-wide gay rights organization is endorsing Ken Livingstone as Mayor for London in Thursday’s election and is urging all EU nationals living in London to vote for him. 'Ken Livingstone is famous for having been a life-long supporter of LGBT rights,' said Rodrigo Martin Galan, the Spanish chair of Rainbow Rose.

A three hour tour? Try a 72 hour-plus tour. A group of 12 researchers stranded on one of the most remote islands in the Pacific Ocean will have to wait until tomorrow to be rescued. They were supposed to leave Saturday when their plane—the only one on the island—broke down.
