New Ritz-Carlton Set To Open In Dallas This August

Jul 17, 2007

The first Ritz-Carlton Hotel opening in the United States in four years is scheduled to take place in Dallas on August 15, 2007.     The news comes on the heels of last month’s announcement that the Ritz Carlton would be closing its hotel in Hong Kong effective January, 2008.

The new 218-room Ritz-Carlton is set in a new 21-story Regency-style building designed by renowned Robert A.M. Stern Architects and is located in the Uptown section of Dallas on historic McKinney Avenue, the popular shopping, dining and entertainment enclave well known to both business and leisure visitors to Dallas. The location is also home to a newly-announced stop for the McKinney Avenue Trolley, which provides complimentary passenger service to Uptown's popular shopping and dining attractions. Also, within walking distance of the new hotel, is the American Airlines Center, home to myriad sports and entertainment events including Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Stars games.

The swanky new Texas Ritz-Carlton features the largest luxury ballroom in Dallas, a 12,000 square-foot Ritz-Carlton Spa and Fearing's Restaurant, created by celebrity chef Dean Fearing, one of the fathers of Southwest cuisine. Seventy Residences at The Ritz-Carlton will also occupy the block-wide complex.

In other news, The Ritz-Carlton in Kowloon overlooking the famed Victoria Harbor will be the world's tallest hotel at 490 meters high and  is scheduled for a March 2010 opening, at the International Commerce Center.
