Legally Blonde-The Musical: Almost Flawless
I am having dinner with a friend and he say’Äôs ’ÄúLegally Blonde-The Musical is coming; we have to go see it!’Äù He speaks with such enthusiasm, excitement even. Let me first let you know that my knowledge of Legally Blonde comes from an afternoon in bed when nothing was on and I caught a bit of Legally Blonde 2 on cable. Not Impressed. I found the title character shallow and void of any redeeming quality that would keep me from changing the channel to a 24 hour infomercial channel. This being said my enthusiasm for this production was no where near the level of my friends’Äô. However the show had a couple of things going for it. After a run in Dallas it was going to play the beautiful Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth and the tickets were free.

Visionary World Premieres, Re-imagined American Classics and Brilliant New Comedies Fill the Alley Theatre's 2009-2010 Season
Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announced that the Alley Theatre subscription season - the Theatre's 63rd - will combine three world premieres, including Frank Wildhorn's new musical Wonderland, Rajiv Joseph's bold and theatrical Gruesome Playground Injuries and Kenneth Lin's gripping Intelligence-Slave, along with re-imagined productions of the great American classic Our Town by Thornton Wilder and the sublime fantasy Harvey by Mary Chase. In addition, the Alley will create new productions of two recent smash hit comedies from London and New York, Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps and Boeing-Boeing, as well as the regional premiere of Jeffrey Hatcher's mischievous Mrs. Mannerly.

Alley Theatre Presents Theresa Rebeck's Surprising, Sinister, Suspenseful Mauritius
Theresa Rebeck (creator of the Alley's success The Scene and Bad Dates) returns to the Alley with Mauritius, a "tightly woven and ever-surprising sinister comedy" (Playbill.com) "filled with stunning scenes of high humor and drama" (Variety). The title, Mauritius , refers to an island off the coast of Africa from which a now highly collectible stamp, described as "the crown jewel of philately," was issued in the age of Victoria. Like the Maltese Falcon, the Mauritius stamp is the fraught object of desire for an assortment of shady characters with different and mysterious backgrounds and motives, who move through the twists of the plot's crosses and double-crosses. Recommended for mature audiences.

Alley Theatre Presents a Contemporary Re-telling of a Classic Myth with Sarah Ruhl's Eurydice
Author of the Alley's outstanding success The Clean House, Sarah Ruhl creates a tale based on the Greek myth of Orpheus that is "exhilarating" as "we enter a surreal world, as lush and limpid as a dream" (The New Yorker). Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl and directed by Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd begins Friday, January 30 and runs through Sunday, March 1 on the Neuhaus Stage.
