Hey—if
American Idol ever cuts
Paula Abdul loose, she can always start up her own psychic network.
On last night’s admittedly breakneck paced live show, the pop star critiqued both of contestant
Jason Castro’s performances—even though he’d only been up to sing once.
"Jason [Castro], first song, I loved hearing your lower register, which we never really hear," said Paula. "Um, the second song, I felt like your usual charm wasn't—it was missing for me. It kind of left me a little empty. The two songs made me feel like you're not fighting hard enough to get into the top four."
The trouble is, each of the contestant had only performed one song—something fellow judge
Randy Jackson was quick to correct, explaining that the contestants had only performed one song.
"Oh my god, I thought you sang twice,” Abdul replied. “You know, this is hard!"
Spokespeople for the show were quick to suggest that the unusually quick paced show—cramming two songs for each of the five contestants into one hour—made the pop star confused. Catching a walk through earlier in the night further threw her.
