Vito Fossella
On the heels of his May 1 arrest for drunk driving, Staten Island Rep. Vito Fossella has been forced to clean another skeleton out of his closet—an extramarital affair with former Air Force Lt. Col. Laura Fay, which resulted in a now 3-year-old daughter.

In a statement released Thursday, Fossella expressed that he is he is "truly sorry" for the pain he has caused his loved ones. The apology comes just days after his DUI arrest raised questions about his potential to face jail time.

The only Republican in the House to serve New York City, the threat of jail time may well bring to an end his decade long political career in the House.

Fossella will appear in court for his Virginia DUI arrest next week. Fossella said he was in the area to visit his daughter.

Fossella has three children with his wife, with whom he shares a home on Staten Island.

When asked to comment on the future of his political career, Fossella told the Associated Press political decisions are "the furthest thing from my mind."
