The girlfriend of Pittsburgh Steelers' wide
receiver Cedric Wilson has been arrested after a tense 12-hour standoff with police at Wilson's home.
Lindsey Paulet was taken into custody after the incident, in which she allegedly fired two gunshots inside the home and threatened to harm herself.
Paulat, 26, was charged with aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person, according to the
Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. According to police, Paulat and Wilson, 29, were involved in a heated argument inside Wilson's Pine Township home on Saturday evening. Wilson left the property during the argument, leaving Paulat inside.
After Wilson left, Paulat's mother came to talk to her, but she was distraught. Paulat them fired two shots from a handgun belonging to Wilson into a wall. Paulat's mother exited the home and police were called about 1 p.m. on Saturday. As a precaution, neighbors were evacuated from the area. A 12-hour standoff resulted between Paulat and local police.
Police would not discuss the nature of the argument between Wilson and Paulat, but said they had responded to an emergency call that a woman inside Wilson's home was threatening to kill herself. According to the
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, a police SWAT team barricaded traffic from the area and asked nearby residents to leave while negotiating with Paulat to turn herself in.
Wilson returned to the home around 5 p.m. when he learned of the standoff, according to the
Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, but did not speak to Paulat. The police standoff ended when Paulat threw the gun out the front door and then exited Wilson's home. She was taken into police custody about 12:45 a.m. on Sunday.
No one was injured in the incident and Steelers spokesman Dave Lockett said Wilson was "fine", according to
United Press International.
