A teacher who resigned from her position at the Thalberg School in Connecticut after pictures of her in a bikini showed up on the Internet is suing school officials for pressuring her to resign.
Former second grade teacher Marie Jarry, who popped up on Howard Stern's web site in a bikini as the winner of the “Ugliest Man, Hottest Wife” competition, is seeking back pay and damages after she says school officials forced her to resign under duress.
Jarry is also seeking to be reinstated.
After taking home the grand prize, Howard’s Stern’s web site posted news of Jarry’s resignation—something her husband says was done without choice after feeling pressure from the community when the photos were released.
"The plaintiff's discharge was orchestrated by the Southington Education Association, Erardi and the board of education, who working together intimidated and coerced her with threats to resign in lieu of termination," the suit states, according to ABC News.
According to school officials, the photos go against a "morality clause in the teachers' contract." Jarry claims she was told the photos could result in her losing her job and her teaching certificate.
According to Newsday, the Jarry’s took home $5,000 in prize money from the competition. School records show Jarry called in sick the day the photos were released.
