Proudly out former boy band star Lance Bass speaks out against gay discrimination in a new public service announcement for the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network released this week. The former N’Sync star, who came publicly in2006, recorded the spot to promote the National Day of Silence on April 25.

Air America Host Randi Rhodes Suspended for Calling Clinton 'Whore'
Randi Rhodes, a host on the progressive Air America radio network, was suspended on Thursday after calling Hillary Clinton a 'f**king whore' during an event last month. Speaking at an Air America affiliate event in San Francisco, Rhodes targeted insults and foul language at Clinton and former congresswoman Geraldine A. Ferraro.

H&R Block Tells Gay Couples in Connecticut: 'We Don’t Support Connecticut Civil Union Returns'
The American Civil Liberties Union sent a demand letter to H&R Block this week demanding that it change its online tax preparation system to accommodate gay couples in Connecticut with civil unions. According to the letter the ACLU sent to H&R Block, failing to provide gay couples with civil unions the option of filing their taxes online as it does for married couples is in violation of state law.

Gay Rights Group Brings Awareness of Homophobia in European Football
This summer Austria and Switzerland will play host to the 13th quadrennial European Football Championships where teams from all over Europe will come to compete for the top prize in soccer. This week, the gay rights group QWIEN announced that they would be placing gay positive posters around the city in order to bring awareness to homophobia in the sport.

Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick doesn't support equal rights for gays because marriage should be a sacred institution between 'a man and a woman.' Yet, he's now made headlines for being caught redhanded in a second extramarital affair with a woman identified as Carmen Slowsky.

Fox news radio host John Gibson has issued an apology for mocking comments made about the death of young actor Heath Ledger during his show. Initially Gibson had refused to apologize, but relented after continued calls for him to be fired.

In a statement released on Thursday by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, the organization slammed comments made by Fox News radio host John Gibson about the death of 28-year-old actor Heath Ledger, calling Gibson 'cruel and tasteless.'

Anti-gay minister Fred Phelps has vowed to protest at the funeral of actor Heath Ledger, who was tragically found dead on Tuesday of unknown causes. Phelps' Westboro Baptist Church is legendary for their hatred of gays and protests at the funerals of gay-bashing victims and soldiers in the U.S. military.
