American Idol star Clay Aiken and friend Jaymes Foster are now the proud parents of a baby boy. The 29-year-old singer and his 50-ish producer pal announced they would be having a child together back in June. Foster, the sister of music producer David Foster, was impregnated via artificial insemination. She and Aiken met while working on one of his albums and are reportedly just “good friends.”
Aiken and Foster’s bouncing baby boy arrived at precisely 8:08 a.m. on Friday—which just happens to be 8/8/08. As the number 8 is a visual representative of infinity and considered a very lucky number in Chinese numerology, little Parker Foster Aiken arrived at quite an auspicious time indeed. The baby was born at an undisclosed location in North Carolina
According to a report from the New York Daily News, baby Aiken weighed in at 6 pounds, 2 ounces at birth and has brown hair like his record producer mom, instead of carrot-top red like dad. Faye Aiken the American Idol crooner’s mom, said her son is ‘smiling from ear to ear’ over his new baby boy.
Clay Aiken has long been plagued with gay rumors, including accusations several years ago that he had engaged in a bareback tryst with porn star John Paulus. The announcement earlier this year from music producer David Foster that his sister was having a child with Aiken via artificial insemination only added fuel to the fire.
Aiken has refused to comment on rumors about his sexual orientation. In an interview with Access Hollywood earlier this year, Aiken said that people “don’t’ want to have that type of stuff pushed, people who are living in Omaha or in Charlotte or wherever… What I want to do is be a singer, want to be an entertainer and forget all that stuff.”
Faye Aiken told Raleigh radio station WRAL that mother and baby are doing great. Foster and Aiken reportedly intend to raise their son together in an equal partnership.
