Celebrities and Politicians Joined Love Honor Cherish in the Fight to Defeat Proposition 8 Oct 19, 2008

Los Angeles ’Äì Sunday evening, October 12th, at the Skybar at the Mondrian Hotel, Love Honor Cherish, in conjunction with Equality California and GLAAD, honored the Heroes and History Makers raising $250,000 to fight Proposition 8, which seeks to eliminate marriage equality in California.

The evening was a major success and exceeded expectations.  Mayor Villaraigosa started off the fundraiser by donating $25,000 and motivating celebrities and guests alike.  (Celebrities and politicians who donated money included: Chad Allen, Heather Tom, Eric McCormack, Dana Delany, and Councilwoman Greuel among others) No one can be complacent; everyone must do their part over the next 22 days to defeat Proposition 8, particularly because the opposition has raised significant amount of money, including out of state sources.

About Love Honor Cherish:
Founded by Tom Watson, John Henning and Andrew Klayman in May 2008, the day after the California Supreme Court ruled that gays and lesbians have the right to marry.  Love Honor Cherish was created to fight Proposition 8, which would take away the right to marry, and to get volunteers activated in the campaign at the highest possible level, by using their skills and talents in media, fundraising and outreach.
