Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the pastor Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama once called his ‘spiritual mentor’ and later distanced himself from en route to his party’s nomination, is penning a book which is scheduled to be released in October, just weeks before the general election.
It is perhaps the most inopportune moment the controversial minister could have chosen to re-enter the spotlight as Sen. Obama will be in the final stages of making his case to the American people.
Throughout the campaign, Rev. Jeremiah Wright has revealed himself to be a thorn in Barack Obama’s side. Just as Obama has managed to pull ahead this election cycle, the specter of his two decade long association with Wright has consistently re-entered the public consciousness and stolen the senator from Illinois’ proverbial thunder.
With the release of his new, as yet untitled book, Wright could once again serve as a spoiler to Sen. Obama’s political aspirations. Only this time the stakes are higher than they’ve ever been.
According to published reports Wright, will not only publish his new book he’ll be hitting the road to promote it. No doubt the always colorful Rev. Wright’s new tome will return race, patriotism, liberation theology and Sen. Obama’s longstanding involvement with the church Wright started, right back to the forefront of the 2008 presidential campaign.
Barack Obama and his family formally resigned from Trinity United Church of Christ back in May of this year.
