CDC Makes It Official—HIV Infections Up 48% Nationwide
A CDC HIV/AIDS Surveillance Report that was quietly released earlier this week, shows a 'catastrophic' 48% increase in US HIV infections between the years 2005 and 2006. With the lifetime costs of one HIV-infected individual’s treatment and care estimated to be $600,000, these new CDC surveillance numbers suggest a $36 billion aggregate cost for caring for these nearly 53,000 individuals.Apr 6, 2008

Since 1983, The Food and Drug Administration has placed an absolute ban on blood donations from men who have sex with other men. And despite recent legislation allowing HIV positive individuals to donate sperm to consenting mothers, the FDA isn't budging. Glam Reaper Ad Campaign Launched to Educate Gays on HIV/AIDS
Two decades ago, the Australian Department of Public Health launched a disturbing, yet informative, ad campaign to help educate the gay community about HIV and AIDS. With the number of new infections still on the rise over the past few years, Sydney has launched a new viral video campaign which highlights the Glam Reaper and hopes to once again highlight HIV as a disease that effects everyone.

HIV/AIDS Rates Rise Dramatically for Young Gay New Yorkers
It has been over two decades since the HIV/AIDS epidemic became a national concern, and although in most communities the annual infection rate has been falling, New York City’s young gay population doesn’t seem to be part of the trend. The State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has released new statistics about HIV/AIDS demographics, and the news is alarming for the gay population.

'Run in a Million' Raises Awareness of HIV/AIDS in the Black Community
Runners Mike Sacco and Lejon Boudreaux have set out on a quest to help raise awareness about HIV/AIDS in the African American community. As part of their plan, the pair strapped on their Nike’s and left San Francisco heading for Los Angeles averaging over 26.2 miles a day to show their support for the Test 1 Million project.

Proposed Regulations Could Place Unfair Restrictions on HIV Positive Visitors to the U.S.
New York City-based Lambda Legal has come out against regulations proposed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security that they say would continue the stigmatizing discrimination against people with HIV, create greater barriers to their entry into the U.S. and significantly curtail their legal rights once here.

The mother of Ryan White has requested a little one-on-one time with Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee after the GOP frontrunner told reporters this weekend that he stands by past comments suggesting AIDS patients should have been 'isolated'.

HRC Commemorates World AIDS Day
On the eve of World AIDS Day, the Human Rights Campaign called for the repeal of the discriminatory travel and immigration ban on HIV positive individuals entering the U.S. and announced its endorsement of 'The HIV Non-Discrimination in Travel and Immigration Act of 2007' introduced by Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-CA).
