AIDS Foundation Houston, Inc. (AFH) is proud to be a partner of Harvest Fest 2009, an event that will provide free food, fun and entertainment at the Clayton Homes Community, 1919 Runnels Street, on Saturday, February 21 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. During the event AFH will provide HIV/AIDS testing, counseling and education.

’ÄúWe are thrilled to be a partner of Harvest Fest 2009,’Äù said AFH CEO Kelly A. McCann. ’ÄúThis will provide us with a wonderful opportunity to create awareness about HIV/AIDS and help empower attendees by providing them with an opportunity to find out their HIV status through free testing.’Äù

Entertainment at Harvest Fest will include a live concert with performances by specials guests including native Houstonian and national recording artist, J. Xavier. This 16-year-old hip-hop music star was the winner of the 2004 PAX-TV’Äôs America’Äôs Most Talented Kids Show contest. Xavier also serves as a global youth ambassador of HIV/AIDS by fighting the disease with nutrition programs in Africa.

Additional partners of Harvest Fest 2009 include The Berryman House, Inc., The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ and Houston Buyers Club.  Three ministries from Dallas, Texas will be in attendance to assist in community outreach efforts, encouragement for event attendees, and door-to-door prayer and discipleship. City officials, law enforcement and community leaders will be present and offering their support as well.

Harvest Fest 2009 will also provide an opportunity for community leaders to address the recent crime spree in the city of Houston by sharing a non-violence message to members of the community.
