Come on, folks... this is San Francisco. Home of the gay rights movement... a gay mecca so to speak. And with the city literally turned upside down earlier this year to recreate the Castro in its hey day for the forthcoming biopic
Milk (based on 'mayor of Castro Street'
Harvey Milk) plus the recent Supreme Court descicion legalizing gay marriage in California, expect the typically political pride to be teeming with gay spirit.
Of course, the beauty of Frisco is as political and activist as pride gets, the Bay Area gays know how to party... just try making it through the Castro at night without a drink in one hand and a half drunk/half blissful smile plastered on your face.
And, after years of dedication to the gay community, check out
Cyndi Lauper as pride's grand marshall before kicking off her second annual True Colors Tour.
Inside Scoop: The SF Gay & Lesbian Film Festival wraps the same weekend as gay pride, so you can catch movies and party at the same time. On 'Pink Saturday', the Castro street party that happens on Pride-eve, you can see the 8:30 pm show of
Another Gay Sequel, Gays Gone Wild playing at the Castro Theatre, and step out right into the crowd of 150,000+ revelers when the movie's over.
