Hazel Court
Scream queen of 1950’s and 60’s horror flicks and British beauty, Hazel Court, died from heart failure at age 82 in her Lake Tahoe, Calif. home Tuesday.

A favorite in horror director Roger Corman’s films, Court starred with Vincent Price in The Raven, based on the Edgar Allen Poe story. She went on to star five Corman films.

Court became famous playing women in peril who often died violent death in films such as, The Premature Burial, The Masque of the Red Death, The Curse of Frankenstein and Devil Girl from Mars.

Her popularity as a “scream queen” and her beauty provided Court with an ever-devoted fan base.

"She'd probably get over 100 pieces of fan mail a month and she would reply to every single one," according to Court’s daughter Sally Walsh.

"She was one of the great beauties of all time," Walsh said. "She was a redhead with really green eyes and almost… the perfect face. She was on the cover of almost every magazine."

Born Feb. 10, 1926, in Sutton Codfield, Court also enjoyed success in television. She co-starred with Patrick O’Neal in the 1957 British comedy series Dick and Duchess and also in Alfred Hitchcock Presents, which initially brought her to the U.S. in 1950.

Court’s other TV appearances included The Twilight Zone, Dr. Kildare and Gidget.

Court is survived by daughters Walsh and Courtney Taylor, son Jonathan Taylor and stepdaughters Anne Taylor Fleming and Avery Taylor.
