Coach Bobby Petrino Quits Atlanta Falcons

It has just not been a great week for the Atlanta Falcons. First former quarterback Michael Vick gets tossed in jail for two years, then club owner Arthur Blank has to make a semi-racist 'fried chicken' comment, and now, after being unable to find a suitable replacement quarterback, Bobby Petrino has resigned from his position as head coach.

Petrino had created one of the most successful offense teams during his tenure at Louisville and signed on with the Falcon’s just this season after Blank surprisingly fired former head coach Jim Mora.

Petrino signed a $24 million five-year contract with the Falcons because it was believed that he and Vick could turn the team’s annual losing streak around.

Following Vick’s sentencing Monday, the Falcons suffered another high scoring loss as a plane flew above the stadium with a banner that said "New Team Name? Dog Killers?" To avoid further humiliation and after only 13 games Petrino stated that he was throwing in the towel to presumably return to college ball.

It is speculated that he will be heading to Arkansas to coach the Razorbacks who are looking to replace Houston Nutt.

The Club has not made a public comment on their current situation as news of Petrino resignation comes as a great shock to Blank and the entire team.
