Want something exciting and fun to do this MLK weekend? On January 19-20, West Hollywood will play host to 20 gay teams from across the nation for the third semiannual West Coast Classic Tournament.
The tournament, which kicks off with a registration party at Club Eleven in the heart of boys town, is an official National Gay Basketball Association event. The non profit organization was established a few years back to bring gay men and women together in order to play one of the nations most prolific sports, basketball, and is designed to help LGBT participants to develop teams, and promote athletics in the gay community.
The event, which took place in Long Beach, California in both 2003 and 2005, has expanded to a new facility in downtown Los Angeles at Miguel Contreras High School, located at South Lucas and Third streets.
The weekend long occasion will hold competitions for both men and women’s brackets, and there is no charge to attend. After game play on Saturday, a dinner party will take place at Here Lounge catered by El Cholo, and following the finals on Sunday, an awards ceremony will take place at the exquisite East West Lounge on Santa Monica Boulevard.
Come out to watch, party, cheer for your favorite teams and enjoy a great weekend of gay league basketball.
