Phoenix may be hot, but on October 1st it will be scorching as the city hosts the 2007 Gay Softball World Series. Presented by the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance, the annual event caters to 56 softball leagues from 35 cities in North America who come together to compete and raise money for LGBT charities.
The NAGAAA is a nonprofit international sports organization that began in 1977 and is comprised of men and women dedicated to promoting organized softball competition for the gay and lesbian community. The World Series is the premier event for the organization, and is the largest annual sporting event in the world with over 4,000 participants and fans attending.
The event caters to both men’s and women’s teams and has four divisions of play which separate the skill level among the teams. The games will take place at 4 different softball parks across the city and registration will start on September 29th.
The competition will kick off at the opening ceremonies hosted by openly gay comedian
Scott Thompson (
