Texas Tech Coach Fined $10,000 for Bad Mouthing Officials
It’s one thing to fine professional athletes large amounts of money for rule violations, but this week the Big 12 Conference set a big precedent when they laid a $10,000 hit on Texas Tech coach Mike Leach for bad mouthing officials after the game. It set a new high for fines by the league and gave a distinct warning to anyone else who would think about criticizing the way things are run.

Cross-Country Gay Rights Vigils Set For Early October
Between Oct. 7 and 13, straight people across the U.S. are expected to 'come out' as supporters of equal rights for gay and lesbian Americans as part of 'Seven Straight Nights for Equal Rights,' initiated by Texas-based gay rights organizations Soulforce and Atticus Circle.

The Gay Rodeo Is Coming to Town
Goat dressing, steer decorating, and wild drag racing, are spectacles that you don't see everyday, but if you get the chance to be in Austin this September, the Texas Gay Rodeo Association (TGRA) promises that you will be entertained by them. The 24th incarnation of the Texas event is set to take place September 22 and 23 and proceeds will go to benefit local charities.

TGRA 2007 Capital City Rodeo comes to Austin
Over the weekend of September 20-23, Austin will once again play host to TGRA’s 2007 Capital City Rodeo at the Travis County Expo Center. Two days of rodeo action are just part of a weekend packed with parties, the State Dance Competition and the crowning of the new Mr. and Miss TGRA.

Pride Build Focuses On Affordable Housing
The Austin GLBT Community is working together to raise the funds and labor to construct an Austin Habitat for Humanity home this fall. The house will become the new home of a local grandmother who will purchase the house with a zero-interest Habitat mortgage loan.
